Oonagh came to me after I posted in a local group looking for volunteers, she was not generally keen on having her photo taken but was kind enough to trust me to take her photo. I've included a piece she's written about herself below, she was a pleasure to work with and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about her journey in Nia.
"Never one to support stereotypes I think I’ve always liked to challenge the expected or accepted norms to some degree. After a lengthy career in IT I took things in another direction in my life, training as a Nia dance teacher in my late 50’s. I love the body positivity that comes with practising Nia, and the acceptance and celebration of unique qualities and movement styles. When I’m not dancing I love to be out in nature, in the garden or out for some seasonal foraging, coming home to try out a new recipe or make. And if I’m not doing either of those I may be at home sketching or painting something inspired by nature, there is colour and beauty all around!"
