I am a Hampshire (UK) based photographer, working in a range of photographer genres, my main focus is on social documentary and street photography, as well as enjoying landscape, portrait, and occasional product photography.
With my portraits, I use the same skills as I do for documentaries, talking to the individual, and focusing on their natural expressions instead of pushing for posing. If the individual is comfortable posing, then I am happy to give direction. However, I often find people are uncomfortable in front of the camera and this causes them to become rigid and stressed, so my main aim is to relax the individual for the most genuine expressions possible. Check out my portraits and candid sections in my portfolio for examples.
Outside of my photography, I'm training as a health researcher, I have a BSc Psych (Hons), a PGDip Mental Health Science and am studying an MRes Health Science. My time as a weight loss coach, as well as my level 3 counselling skills, means I'm more than capable of talking to someone, drawing out information and engaging them in active communication. Using skills such as empathetic and active listening, questioning and giving them the space to say their piece, I can help shift those nerves and create genuine images that show real joy and what they're sharing.
If you're interested in booking me, check out my Contact page, there you'll find information about portrait options I offer, as well as any other work I can be contacted regarding.
